Using Reusable Oracle Radio Registration QR Codes

Create and revoke a registration value that the same user can use for multiple installations.

Use a reusable QR code when the same intended Radio user must enroll more than one installation, or enroll again after resetting an application. Each successful completion creates a new Radio device record, even if the advertising ID is unchanged. To retain an existing device record, use one-time re-registration instead.

You need radio.enrollment.manage and radio.device.manage for the Devices page. The intended user must be enabled in Radio and must sign in for every enrollment.

The QR value remains usable until it expires or is revoked. Give it only to the intended user and keep any saved copy protected. It isn't a shared sign-in credential or an OAuth token.

Create and Use a Reusable QR Code

  1. In Radio, select Devices, and then Register device.
  2. Select the Intended user, enter a Display name, and select Reusable QR code.
  3. Set Expires at to the future date and time when enrollment should stop, then select Create QR code.
  4. Securely retain the QR value if it will be needed again and provide it only to the intended user. The registration list doesn't return the QR value or code later.
  5. For each installation, have that user scan the QR value and complete the mobile sign-in and registration completion steps.
  6. Store the returned device ID in that installation's protected state and discard the registration code from the application after completion. Verify the new entry in device inventory.

The separately retained QR value remains active after completion. Don't repeat completion merely to test the code: another successful request creates another device record. If a completion response was lost, inspect inventory before trying again.

For REST, set usageMode to REUSABLE in createDeviceRegistration. Omitting it creates the default ONE_TIME grant.

Review or Revoke a Reusable QR Code

  1. On Devices, find Reusable QR codes. Review the registration name, ID, expiration, and Active, Expired, or Revoked status. Use the pagination controls to check additional entries.
  2. For an active code that must no longer enroll installations, select Revoke.
  3. In Revoke reusable QR code, confirm the registration and select Revoke. Verify the updated status before discarding the saved QR value.

Revocation prevents future completions; already registered devices remain in inventory. Use device deletion to remove a device record. For REST, use listDeviceRegistrations with usageMode=REUSABLE and revokeDeviceRegistration with the returned registration ID.
