Oracle Radio Groups and Permissions

Radio groups grant permissions to their members for Oracle Radio operations.

Create Radio-owned groups, assign the permissions required for each job function, and add enabled Radio users as members. Radio permissions control operations inside Oracle Radio. They are separate from the OCI IAM permissions that control Public Safety and Security instance resources. Radio permissions are granted through Radio group membership; Identity Domain group membership doesn't grant them.

In Radio, select Groups icon Groups.

You can update, disable, or permanently delete a group that your organization created. Remove under Users removes that user's membership, not the group. Groups marked System group have protected names, status, and permissions. Before changing administrator membership, verify a replacement administrator's access; see administrator handoff.

Managing an Oracle Radio Group

To create groups, assign Radio permissions, or change group membership, you need radio.group.manage.

  1. In Radio, select Groups.
  2. Open an existing group, or to create a group, select Create group, enter the Group name, and then select Create group.
  3. For a group without the System group label, under Group details, update the Name or Status as needed, and then select Save details.
  4. For a group without the System group label, under Permissions, search for and select only the Radio permissions required for the job function, and then select Save permissions or Save changes.
Select Reset to discard unsaved permission changes.
  5. Under Users, use Search users to add, select active Identity Domain users, and then select Add selected user or Add selected users.
If a selected user doesn't have Radio access, Radio enables access and adds the user to the group in one operation. To remove membership, select Remove for the user. The user marked Super administrator must remain in Radio Administrators.
  6. Test a representative user before assigning the group broadly.
Members receive the group's Radio permissions. Channel operations can still be limited by channel access rules.

System Groups and Administrator Protection

Oracle manages the Radio Administrators and Radio Member system groups. You can't rename, disable, change the permissions of, or delete these groups. Their names, status, and permission controls are read-only. You can add and remove members, except that the user marked Super administrator must remain enabled and in Radio Administrators.

Adding a user to Radio Administrators grants its administrative permissions but doesn't transfer the Super administrator designation. Enabling Radio access doesn't automatically add a user to Radio Member; assign membership explicitly when needed.

For a system group, skip the name, status, and permission changes in the procedure above and manage its members under Users. For a protected change or lost administrator access, follow recovery guidance.

Deleting an Oracle Radio Group

You need radio.group.manage to delete a group. Only groups without the System group label can be deleted.

Warning

Deletion is permanent and can't be undone. It removes the group and its membership and permission assignments, but doesn't delete users or the available permissions. Members lose the permissions granted by this group; permissions from their other groups remain. Verify their required access before deleting.

Delete the Group

  1. In Radio, select Groups and find the group.
  2. In the table, select Delete group from the group's Actions menu. In the card layout, select Delete group on the card.
  3. Review the group name and deletion warning. To proceed, select Permanently delete.
  4. Verify that the group no longer appears and that affected users still have the access they need.
If the result is uncertain, refresh the group list before retrying. For a protected group or rejected request, see group help.

Oracle Radio Permissions

For users whose job requires interrupting a lower-priority speaker, grant radio.talk.priority.high along with the normal talk permission, radio.talk.request. Priority Talk doesn't grant channel access or permit simultaneous speakers. See Priority Talk.

The Devices page requires radio.enrollment.manage and radio.device.manage. The seeded Radio Administrators group includes these permissions.

The following tables list enforced Radio permissions by category. Grant only the permissions required for the group's job function.
