Use Sample Log Data to Become Hands-on with Logging Analytics

Enable the use of Sample Log Data in Compass, and use it to perform a lot of typical Logging Analytics functions such as:

  • Select variety of visualizations to view the same set of log data

  • Change the time range to view larger or smaller set of logs

  • Run various Oracle-defined saved searches

  • Compose your own queries for search

  • View the logs in the Oracle-defined dashboards

For steps to enable sample log data and to perform the above operations, see play iconVideo: Discover Logging Analytics Capabilities Using Sample Log Data.

For the required IAM policies to access sample log data across multiple tenancies, see Allow Users to Access Sample Log Data Across Tenancies.

Allow Users to Access Sample Log Data Across Tenancies

In order to access the sample log data set, set the following policies in your own tenancy:

define tenancy sampledata as ocid1.tenancy.oc1..aaaaaaaabmtv54v5bg45j7zd2eeat4df2bwfqkmxe2yy6ecdfrc36wloe4ia
endorse group Administrators to read loganalytics-features-family in tenancy sampledata
endorse group Administrators to read loganalytics-resources-family in tenancy sampledata
endorse group Administrators to read compartments in tenancy sampledata
Note

If you enabled Oracle Logging Analytics using the onboarding UI which is available when you navigate to the service for the first time, then some policies are already created. See Policies Created While Onboarding Logging Analytics.
