Characteristics of Infrastructure Shapes

This is a reference article for characteristics of Exadata Infrastructure resources for the different Exadata system models and configurations available for Autonomous Database on Dedicated Exadata Infrastructure.

Note

See Resource Limits for the maximum and recommended resource limits for Autonomous Database on Dedicated Exadata Infrastructure on Oracle Public Cloud and Exadata Cloud@Customer.

Exadata Base Systems

Autonomous Database on Oracle Public Cloud

An Exadata base system is a fixed shape similar in size to a quarter rack , with some differences in capacity.

The following table lists the characteristics of the Exadata Base System available in Autonomous Database on Dedicated Exadata Infrastructure.

Property Value
Shape Name Exadata.Base.48
Number of Compute Nodes 2
Total Minimum Number of Enabled CPU Cores 0
Total Maximum Number of Enabled CPU Cores 48
Total RAM Capacity (GB) 720
Number of Exadata Storage Servers 3
Total Raw Flash Storage Capacity (TB) 38.4
Total Usable Storage Capacity (TB) 74
Note

On Exadata Cloud@Customer deployments, Base Shape is offered as a fixed shape (Base Rack) while provisioning an Exadata system such as X8M-2, X9M-2 and so on.

Exadata X11M Systems

X11M systems support elastic configurations instead of fixed shapes such as quarter rack, half rack, or full rack. X11M systems are currently provisioned with a configuration equivalent to a quarter rack.

Elastic infrastructure shapes range from 2 database and 3 storage servers, up to a total of 32 database and 64 storage servers.

To provision an X11M system successfully, the service limits for Exadata X11M Database Server Count and Exadata X11M Storage Server Count in your tenancy should be at least 2 and 3, respectively. Request a service limit increase from the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure console if required. Observe that the Exadata X11M Database Server Count and Exadata X11M Storage Server Count limits are defined as counts per availability domain. Refer to Request a Service Limit Increase for more details.

Note

Only ECPUs are supported on X11M systems.
