Flexible Shapes and Vertical Scaling for OCI Database with PostgreSQL

OCI Database with PostgreSQL database systems can now use flexible shapes with flexible configurations. A flexible shape is a shape that lets you customize the number of OCPUs and the amount of memory for a database system. You can change the shape or hardware configuration of a database system to adapt to changes in performance requirements. For example, you might require a system with more OCPUs or memory, or you might want to reduce costs by reducing the number of OCPUs.

When a database system uses a flexible shape, its configuration must also support flexible shapes. A flexible configuration lets you use integer expressions for variable values. Variables using integer expressions can flexibly scale along with database systems of differing hardware configurations. Flexible configurations also let you change the shape of a database system without necessarily needing to change the database system's configuration.

For more information, see Updating the Shape or Hardware Configuration of a Database System, Managing Configurations, and Supported Shapes.

This update also adds the ability to update a database system's network security group.
