Time-Based Snapshot Locks in File Storage

File Storage supports time-based snapshot locks to help you meet retention requirements by preventing snapshot deletion for a set duration. .

When you apply a lock, you can select the mode that fits your needs: governance mode for flexible, time-based retention (with an optional legal hold), or compliance mode for strict, time-bound retention (with an optional waiting period). For details, see Time-Based Locks.

Previously, only resource-based locks were available. Those locks prevent deletion or updates but don't enforce time-based retention.
