WebLogic Server Operations
The WebLogic Server Operations dashboard provides centralized visibility into the operational health of monitored WebLogic Server environments over a specified time period.
Use the Overview, Performance, Diagnostics, and JDBC tabs to investigate server activity, web-request volume, HTTP response codes, failing endpoints, diagnostic information, and JDBC activity. The Overview tab summarizes servers reporting logs, request rate, HTTP status-code trends, failing endpoints, and the HTTP 5xx error rate.
Here's the list of widgets displayed in the Overview tab in WebLogic Server Operations dashboard:
| Widget | Description |
|---|---|
| WLS Servers | Shows the number of WebLogic Servers that reported logs during the selected time range. Use it to confirm the monitored server population contributing data to the dashboard. |
| Top Failing Endpoints | Shows the endpoints with the highest number of HTTP 4xx and 5xx responses during the selected time range, with 5xx responses identified separately. Use it to prioritize endpoints associated with client or server errors. |
| Web Request Rate | Shows the aggregate web request rate, in requests per minute, across monitored WebLogic Servers. Use it to identify changes in request volume and correlate them with errors or performance issues. |
| HTTP Status Code Trend | Shows the count of web requests by HTTP status code over time. Use it to identify changes in successful, client-error, and server-error responses. |
| HTTP 5xx Error Rate | Shows the percentage of access-log requests that returned an HTTP 5xx status during the selected time range. Use it to detect server-side error spikes and correlate them with failing endpoints or server events. |
Here's the list of widgets displayed in the Performance tab in WebLogic Server Operations dashboard:
| Widget | Description |
|---|---|
| Request Processing Time | Shows the fleet-average WebLogic request-processing time. This metric is an average rather than a percentile. |
| CPU Utilization | Shows the fleet-average CPU utilization across monitored WebLogic Servers. |
| Peak JVM Heap Utilization | Shows the highest JVM heap-utilization percentage in the fleet. Use it to identify individual JVMs approaching heap-capacity limits. |
| Thread Pool Threads by State | Shows fleet thread-pool counts by Active, Idle, and Hogging state. |
| Work Manager Stuck Threads | Shows the current count of Work Manager stuck threads across the selected WebLogic Servers. |
| Open HTTP Sessions | Shows the current number of open HTTP sessions across the selected WebLogic Servers. |
| Active Deployment Sessions | Shows the number of active deployment sessions across the fleet. |
| JVM Heap Usage | Shows absolute JVM heap usage, complementing the JVM heap-utilization percentage. |
| Garbage Collection Execution Time | Shows the average garbage-collection invocation time by collector generation. |
Here's the list of widgets displayed in the Diagnostics tab in WebLogic Server Operations dashboard:
| Widget | Description |
|---|---|
| Critical JVM Events | Shows stuck-thread, out-of-memory, and JVM-pressure events with server and error context. |
| JVM Memory Issues | Shows out-of-memory, garbage-collection-pressure, and other memory-related WebLogic Server events with server context. |
| Stuck Thread Events | Shows stuck-thread events by server, including the latest occurrence. Use it to investigate potential thread-processing issues. |
| WLS Lifecycle Events | Shows WebLogic Server deployment, undeployment, startup, and configuration-change events. |
| Top WLS Warning and Error Signatures | Shows the most frequent WebLogic Server warning and error labels and error IDs. |
| Top URIs by Response Size | Shows endpoints with the largest response payloads. Use it to identify potentially bandwidth-intensive responses. |
Here's the list of widgets displayed in the JDBC tab in WebLogic Server Operations dashboard:
| Widget | Description |
|---|---|
| JDBC Connection State | Shows fleet JDBC connections by state, including in-use and waiting connections. |
| JDBC Data Source State | Shows JDBC data-source state by data-source name. Requires the WebLogic Server DMS application to collect data-source metrics. |
| JDBC Connection Create Delay | Shows the average latency for creating a data-source connection. |
| JDBC Connection Leaks | Shows data-source connection leaks per minute. Nonzero values require investigation. |
| JDBC Warnings and Errors | Shows JDBC connection, data-source, and database-access errors by server and error signature. |
| Deployment Status | Shows application deployment status by deployment name. Requires the WebLogic Server DMS application. |
