Kubernetes Cluster Summary
The Kubernetes Cluster Summary dashboard brings together cluster inventory, operational status, and log activity to help you assess cluster health.
The Overview tab shows resource counts, node and container states, workload status, and the distribution and trends of logs and events. The Potential Issues tab highlights patterns in container, Kubernetes system, and operating system logs, along with warning events, to help you identify affected resources and investigate problems.
Here's the list of widgets displayed in the Overview tab in Kubernetes Cluster Summary dashboard:
| Widget | Description |
|---|---|
| Clusters | Shows the number of Kubernetes clusters in the selected scope. |
| Node Status (Last 15 Minutes) | Shows the distribution of ready and not-ready worker nodes based on node object logs reported during the last 15 minutes. Use it to identify nodes that might require attention. |
| Namespaces | Shows the number of namespaces reported across the Kubernetes clusters in the selected scope. |
| Pods Running | Shows the number of pods reported as running during the last 15 minutes. |
| Container States (Last 15 Minutes) | Shows the distribution of containers by state based on container status logs reported during the last 15 minutes. Use it to identify containers that aren't running normally. |
| Deployment Status | Shows the distribution of deployments by availability status. Use it to identify deployments whose required replicas might not be available. |
| DaemonSet Status | Shows the distribution of DaemonSets by availability status. Use it to identify DaemonSets that aren't running the required pods across eligible nodes. |
| StatefulSet Status | Shows the distribution of StatefulSets by availability status. Use it to identify StatefulSets whose required replicas aren't available. |
| Job Status | Shows the distribution of Kubernetes jobs by status, such as active and complete. Use it to identify jobs that remain active or haven't completed successfully. |
| Container Logs | Shows the distribution of collected container log records by log source. Use it to identify the container log sources generating the most data. |
| Kubernetes System Logs | Shows the distribution of Kubernetes system log records by component log source, such as kubelet, CoreDNS, CSI, and proxy logs. |
| OS logs | Shows the distribution of operating system log records collected from Kubernetes nodes by log source, such as audit, syslog, secure, cron, and Ksplice logs. |
| Events | Shows the distribution of Kubernetes events by event reason or type. Use it to identify the events occurring most frequently across the monitored clusters. |
| Container Logs Trend | Shows the volume of container log records over time, grouped by log source. Use it to identify spikes or changes in container log activity. |
| Kubernetes System Logs Trend | Shows the volume of Kubernetes system log records over time, grouped by component log source. Use it to correlate changes in system log activity with cluster events. |
| OS Logs Trend | Shows the volume of operating system log records from Kubernetes nodes over time, grouped by log source. |
| Events Trend | Shows the volume of Kubernetes events over time, grouped by event reason or type. Use it to identify increases in warning, scheduling, lifecycle, or other cluster events |
Here's the list of widgets displayed in the Potential Issues tab in Kubernetes Cluster Summary dashboard:
| Widget | Description |
|---|---|
| Container Logs - Potential Issues | Shows potential issue patterns detected in container logs over time, including the affected node and pod, occurrence count, time range, and log source. Use it to identify recurring application or container problems. |
| Kubernetes System Logs - Potential Issues | Shows potential issue patterns detected in Kubernetes component logs over time, including the affected resources and log sources. Use it to investigate recurring problems in components such as kubelet, CoreDNS, CSI, and proxies. |
| OS Logs - Potential Issues | Shows potential issue patterns detected in operating system logs from Kubernetes nodes over time. Use the accompanying details to identify the affected node, occurrence count, time range, and source. |
| Warning Events | Shows Kubernetes events with the Warning type during the selected time range. Use it to identify resources affected by scheduling failures, unhealthy conditions, or other operational problems. |
