Assess the Performance of Your Databases at a Glance

You can monitor and assess the performance of your fleet of Oracle Databases in a compartment or Database Group on the Performance tile on the Oracle Database fleet summary page.

The performance data of your fleet can be viewed in an advanced Performance tree map. In this tree map, you can easily identify the Oracle Database that requires your attention on various dimensions such as DB time, CPU, and I/O.

The Performance tree map is a visual representation of the performance of the Oracle Databases in a compartment or Database Group for a selected database metric. The databases are displayed as a collection of rectangles in different sizes and colors. The size and color of each rectangle are determined by the selected Size and Color applied filters, and the available options depend on the selected metric. The Performance tree map is especially useful if you have many databases in your fleet and you want to assess their performance at a glance.

To view the performance of your Oracle Databases for a selected metric on the Performance tree map:

  1. Go to the Oracle Database fleet summary page.
  2. Click the Compartment applied filter to select a different compartment, if required. To view databases in a Database Group, click inside the Search and Filter field, select Database group, select the required Database Group, and then click Apply filter.
  3. Click the Time period and Comparison applied filters to set the time period and comparison period for which the change percentage is displayed.
  4. Click the Performance tab (next to the Members tab) to view the Performance tree map.
  5. Above the Performance tree map, click the Metric applied filter and select a metric.
  6. Optionally, use the other available applied filters to change what is displayed in the Performance tree map and how it's displayed.

For example, use Size and Color to specify the attributes that determine the size and color of the rectangles in the tree map. The available Size and Color options depend on the selected metric. For example, if you select CPU as the metric, you can set Size to CPU time (avg. active CPU) or Allocation (CPU), and set Color to Utilization (%) or Change (%).

The tree map is updated based on the selected metric, and you can assess the performance of each database. Above the tree map, the number of Oracle Databases, metric usage, and, if applicable, allocation information are displayed. Below the tree map, a legend provides information on what the color of the rectangles denote for the selected metric.

On the Performance tree map, click a rectangle denoting an Oracle Database or a RAC instance to go to the Managed database details page of that database.
