Restoring from an OCI Database with PostgreSQL Point-in-Time Source

Restore an OCI Database with PostgreSQL database system from a point-in-time source.

Warning

You might lose data if you restore a database system. We recommend that you create a manual backup of the database system before restoring. For more information, see Creating an OCI Database with PostgreSQL Database System Backup
    1. On the Database systems list page, select Create PostgreSQL Database system. If you need help finding the list page, see Listing OCI Database with PostgreSQL Database Systems.
    2. In the 1. Select creation type section, select Create from DB system at a point-in-time.
    3. In the Choose Point-In-Time Recovery enabled DB System section, enter the following information:
      • Database system compartment: Select the compartment that contains the source database system.
      • Database system: Select the database system that you want to restore.
      • Point in time to restore to: Select the point-in-time option for the database system you are creating:
        • Latest: Select the most recent point in time. The restore time for the latest point in time is displayed.
        • Custom: Specify a particular date and time for the point-in-time source:
          • Date: Enter or use the calendar tool to specify the date.
          • Time: Enter the time for the specified date.
          • Possible recovery windows: Displays the time range available for selection.
    4. Select Next.
      The 2. Configure database section opens.

      To configure the new database system, set its management policy, and review and create it, follow the remaining steps in 2. Configure database.

  • Use the oci psql db-system restore command and required parameters to restore a database from a backup:

    oci psql --db-system-id <db_system_OCID> --backup-id <backup_ocid> [OPTIONS]

  • Run the RestoreDbSystem operation to restore a database from a backup.
