Maintenance
Use management policies to define the maintenance schedules for OCI Database with PostgreSQL database systems.
You can let OCI choose the best day and time to perform any essential maintenance, or set the schedule yourself to avoid any potential disruption during peak usage time.
Minimal downtime is expected when maintenance operations are performed. Maintenance is performed only when required for security or reliability issues.
When a database system's version is upgraded, each node is upgraded independently. While a node is upgraded, existing connections might be terminated, but they can be reestablished through retries within 1-2 minutes.
You can set the management policy for maintenance when you create the database system, or edit the management policy of an existing database system.
A database system is returned to its pre-maintenance state after the maintenance is complete. For example, if the database system was in an ACTIVE state when maintenance was performed, it's returned to an ACTIVE state after the maintenance completes.
