Working with Bounce
Learn how to use self-service Bounce to shut down, start up, and bounce DB Tier and MidTiers and/or MidTier components.
- Click the Bounce tab, and then under Create/Monitor RFCs, select the RFC Details.
- From the Target list, select the environment which needs to be bounced. This list is populated with all the environments associated with the support identifier (SI).
- For Operation, select any of the following:
- Bounce
- Stop
- Start (This option is visible only when previous RFC operation is stopped)
- For Services, select any of the following:
- All (Apps and DB) - This will Bounce/Stop/Start all MT and DB services.
- All Apps - This will Bounce/Stop/Start all MT services.
- Apps Components - This will allow users to select individual components like Apache, OPMN etc.
The Bounce/Stop field is automatically filled in with data on the host and service that need to be restarted/stopped.
- For the Operation Stop, you must additionally select Blackout Duration. You must start the services before the Blackout duration by creating Start Services RFC.
- Click Customer Note to add an action plan or any other relevant information you want included in the RFC.
- Click Create RFC.Note
To schedule RFCs for Bounce, you must have the MOS Authorized Approver privilege for the Oracle E-Business Suite environment selected. Otherwise, request that a MOS authorized approver for your organization schedules the RFC through Oracle Automated CEMLI Execution (ACE). - If you have MOS Schedule RFC privileges, the Auto RFC dialog box opens.
- Click Yes to schedule the RFC for execution in 15 minutes.
If another RFC is already scheduled for execution at the same time, for the same instance, the Schedule RFC dialog box opens, allowing you to choose another time slot for your RFC. Continue to step 12.
- Click OK.
- Click No in the Auto RFC dialog box to select a future execution date and time.
- Click the calendar icon () to select a date.
- Select the appropriate time from the menu, then click Check.
- If the time slot availability is confirmed, click Approve.
The RFC is displayed in the RFC List table, with the Open - Ready for Execution status. For more information on the details and actions available in the RFC List table, see Monitoring RFCs.
